The Regular Forces Employment Association (RFEA) celebrates its 125th Anniversary
Permalink Closed

On the 4th of February 2010 the Regular Forces Employment Association (RFEA) will celebrate its 125th Anniversary

As a result of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the dedication, bravery and sacrifice of our Armed Forces is constantly in the news and in the thoughts of the nation.  There is also increasing knowledge and appreciation of the many Charities which provide help and support to our Sailors, Soldiers and Airman.  One of the greatest challenges ex-Service personnel face is finding suitable and rewarding employment when they leave the military. This is where the Regular Forces Employment Association comes in.

For 125 years in peace & war the RFEA has had one aim to help men and women of all ranks, who have served in the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force, to find and remain in work throughout their working lives.

Today the RFEA works with Right Management as part of the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), who delivers the MOD’s resettlement programme.  This gives Service leavers the tools they need to make the transition from a military to a civilian career.  This is achieved through a wide variety of workshops and training courses, along with dedicated support and an online job finding site – RightJob, to help them find new employment.  Importantly, the RFEA and CTP works closely with employers and provides them with a no cost access to a pool of exceptionally well trained, talented and motivated people who are an asset to any company.

The Association also provides help to Veterans and those personnel who leave the Services, but are not eligible for the MOD’s transition programme.  This work is largely made possible through grants from other Service charities including: Seafarers UK, the RN and RM Charity, the Army Benevolent Fund, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the RAF Central Fund and the Royal British Legion.

RFEA delivers its job-finding services through a network of 24 Employment Consultants throughout the United Kingdom, who work closely with local businesses and the CTP’s Regional Resettlement Centres. Every consultant has had both military and business experience ensuring that they deliver the highest quality advice and support to Service Leavers, Veterans and Employers.

But let our Clients and Employers speak for themselves:

“I would like to thank you for all that you did during my first year outside in the big wide world…. a source of hope when things were not good..…I would have no hesitation in recommending your services to anyone who is due to leave.”  Ex-Royal Navy Able Rate

“I have served in the Parachute Regiment for 14 years and recently returned from a tour of Afghanistan.  After being de-mobilised I found it impossible to secure employment and struggled badly.  I was put in touch with RFEA, who worked tirelessly to secure me funding for a course, which resulted in full time employment.  Your dedication has effectively given me a brighter future, not just for me but my wife and daughter also.”  Ex-Army Lance Corporal

“I have finally secured myself a wonderful job…and I am absolutely thrilled that I have been selected.  Had it not been for the support of the RFEA, I’m sure that I would not have considered such a post…It was incredibly important to have the support of the RFEA during such a frustrating time and I cannot thank them enough.”   Ex-Army Warrant Officer

“RFEA is unique for all ex-service personnel in instinctively knowing and understanding our needs….I hope you go from strength to strength.”  Ex-RAF Corporal

“I wish to express my appreciation for your efforts in locating employment for me.  The briefings emphasized networking and this has borne fruit.  You did give me a boost and it has been much appreciated.”  Ex- RAF Squadron Leader

“I remain impressed with the calibre of the candidates I have seen.  Not only are they strong on skills, but they also have a real can-do attitude and a sense of real loyalty and dedication in them.”  HR Manager - major fuel management company
