Care for Casualties Fund Raising Campaign (Click HERE for flyer)

As we look back over the past three years of our Regiment’s life which has been characterised by operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, 54 men have been killed in action and over 290 have been notified as casualties (in need of hospital care due to injuries sustained in action). Of these 290, over 40 have lifechanging injuries. There are 23 amputees of which three have lost three limbs and two riflemen have been left completely blind. We do not yet know the extent of the psychological injuries suffered and we will not know this for some years to come.

As a Regiment we are committed to looking after all members of our family, both those serving and their families, and it is with this in mind that we are launching a campaign over the next year in order to be sure that we will have the capacity to be there for the needs of these individuals during the course of their lives. Please would you, therefore, direct all your fund raising efforts to this end?

We are setting a target of raising £1million. Would you please consider what you could give personally and what you might be able to do to help raise the money? We will be aiming to raise these funds using our regimental networks and contacts, but if we are to reach our goal we will need help and support from everyone, those serving and retired and all who have so kindly shown an interest in and offered support to the Regiment and its founding regiments over the years.

Rebecca Maciejewska has been asked to act as our fundraising coordinator and should be the point of contact for information and advice in this regard. She can be contacted at c4c@the‐rifles.co.uk. Please also visit www.justgiving.com/trrt to donate or set up a sponsorship page. We are developing literature to help advertise, so please do contact her should you like to use this.

It is not our aim to compete with other service charities. We really value all that they do and have supported and been supported by them over the years. As a regimental family, however, we must be there to offer enduring support to our individual family members. If we are to do this over the years of their life as they deal with the ramifications of their injury and bereavement we must ensure that we have the capacity to fulfil this fundamental commitment to them.

Please will you do all that you can to support this campaign.

Yours sincerely

John Poole-Warren
